Abstract Paintings

Picture
1957    H 38cms x W 79cms x D 2.5cms  Black Wood Antique Frame with Gold Interior liner and original floated glass. the frame is 5cms wide

This is my favourite abstract painting. It crosses over with the "decorative". I have a little wooden stamps that I picked up in the V&A museum.
I picked up the frame at Clevedon Auction Rooms and cleaned it up. I love floated glass with its slight wobble and imperfections. Modern glass is a bit boring in comparison. I painted 1957 specifically for the frame.

A series of small abstracts commissioned by a friend.

Work prior to the M.A

Symbolic abstracted form dealing with reflective social interaction.

Regarding strategic positioning and assembly. People, objects and power. Light, reflective and refractive surfaces. I think that just about covers it.

Well, it did until my interest in the decorative, intricate and embellished started to overwhelm everything else. I may be having a reaction against minimalism. I don't think "less is more" when it comes to colour, flora, fauna, laughing, dinner and a decent Sauvingnon.
