26 years of Teaching Access to Higher Education: Art and Design
Well its probably more actually but i'm past counting.
I do this job for the meagre amount of money required to keep Fag End House ticking over but mainly I do it for the individuals concerned. Its a brilliant job but incredibly draining and I'm getting close to retirement in lots of ways. I teach everything except ceramics buts that's only because the college doesn't have a kiln.
My students would say I am a force to be reckoned with, which is a polite way of saying something else. I accept students with little or no experience of tertiary education and by a process I don't need to go into on this site, I get them ready to apply for B.A Hons programmes at University. Students in their turn, put up with me constantly badgering them and produce some amazing work as the following images demonstrate. I will not include names of students unless they want me to when they spot this page. The work should stand alone and it does.
I have only had a digital camera for a few years, so the images are fairly recent. Even so, many of the artists work in this brief gallery have already completed their B.A and are currently studying for their M.A. This is how they started.

the shots in this slideshow are just snaps that i have taken of this year's group managing their way through endless credits. others are shots individual students/staff have taken of the working spaces they have created at home to deal with the workload. if students post their working space shots on facebook, i will post them on my site. everyone is curious to know how artists work at home.
again, if you don,t want your name or studio shot up here let me know asap.
